Secondly, most of these features are designed to protect the Mac’s primary target group: the average consumer. Others have mentioned other OSes such as AIX, Solaris or HP-UX that don’t require a lot of tweaking to pass the tests. What I haven’t seen mentioned here though is their target audiences. These OSes are only ever used by professionals or enthusiasts who are capable of hardening system security and are more likely to be cautious about what they download and execute on their machine. macOS, on the other hand, is used by such a huge range of different people and the vast majority need the enabled-by-default security features in order to protect them because they don’t know what they’re doing.
